The place that is supposed to be the place where the sum of all human
knowledge is accumulated is little more than a bastion for imbeciles.

I've
been hunting around for simple things like definitions of words, word
origins and just general information yet it seems that every day more
and more complete morons find their way onto the web and into search
engines. I won't bother to state specific sites.
Strangely, everyone seems to know where they are.
I
shudder to think that the most vocal are those who garner the most
attention. The fact that most of their post are little more than
monosyllabic epithets, general displays of stupidity and simple bad
behavior makes me wonder what they will do when the oft promised
government bans and blockages actually take place.
The idiots of
the world are so busy with their mindless chatter that they don't see
that they are supplying the very ammunition their detractors are
seeking.
Worse, in 20 or 30 years, when they think everyone has
forgotten them, their posts can easily be retrieved and shown to their
kids and grand-kids, proving that they were just as stupid as those who
are now setting fire to their houses and turning over their cars.

We reap what we sow.

THE EPISTLE TO THE GALATIANS" (6:7-9)

I work for a local newspaper. Like many papers in America it's seen some recent tough times.
But it has survived. Mostly because of it's people. They work pretty hard and have a very important tool.
One that is missing in most businesses..... Imagination.
Continue reading "The value of workers... from a Chicago Prospective...."

We've all pretty much seen the pictures.... well, not the pictures, but pictures of those responding to the pictures..

Angry Muslims throughout the middle-east and parts of Europe burning embassys and Danish flags in the name of great, compassionate and most merciful Allah.

A cartoon that by most accounts aren't all that offensive... (especially when compaired to those printed in Syrian and Iranian press against the west and Israel,) were published in Danish newspapers that have sparked violent responses.

Lets face it, this was hardly unexpected since Islam has a history of being intolerent of anything that even remotely questions it's validity. But it's not about the faith, but those who control it. The Iman and Clerics who can't or won't address the poverty in their own world do the obvious when it comes to maintaining control... they keep their followers angry, and violent and direct their violence at the nearest non-muslim prosperous country. The clerics are now expanding their agenda of hate and violence to the normally peaceful parts of Europe.

Maybe, eventually, the Islamic world will wake up and figure out that we can never go back to the ninth century, and see that most of their problems aren't with Israel, America or Europe, but with it's leaders. They keep you blind with hate and poverty and direct that blame towards those who can actually help you.

TFC

I'm going to give this blog a try. Need to see what it can do and how good it is.
I tend to gravitate towards Linux based stuff.
I come from a unix background, so it was sort of natural.
Frankly, I don't trust hacro$oft stuff. The horror stories that I've both heard and expierenced make me more than alittle paranoid.

Couple that with the fact that NO ONE should have to tell either Big Bill or Big Brother when they add a new hard drive or upgrade a video card.
And once support for Window$ 2K goes away, I'll be an all Linux shop.
In any event, This is here just for my own blathering, as well as keeping tabs on what I'm up to.

I haven't opened the board up for new users because that's not what it's for. And there are like a million bots and worms out there waiting to try to sell you porn... that's not what I'm into either.... (The old lady likes that stuff, though.... eh.... go fig.... )

Living here in Chicago, where democracy hasn't exsisted for decades, most who read this know that here in the land of King Richard the 2nd, many of the functioanies on the mayors payroll have been indicted for a number of reasons... from the infamous "Hired Trucks Scandal," to just the day-to-day payoffs inherent in Politics in Chicago. Hopefully more will come soon in the Water Department and how some of the law firms interact with the political wildlife in city hall. Some of these firms obviously have an inside track on getting contracts to act as the city's strong arm men in getting what the city has decided is overdue fees for services. The local media is hard at work (I think,) in looking into this and the Feds, are apparently flooded in cityhall investigations.

Keep digging, boys. Everybody knows that this administration works at a level that would make Big Bill Thompson green. Not only from money, but from envy.

TFC

Anybody who drinks must be a jock, 'cause only people who play sports
competitively dislike introverted, humorless, cartoon-obsessed assholes
like yourself.

11:02 PM

                       Sword_called_Darkness said...

  Thank you, Professor Einstein.
Bet you worked all day on that one.
~Darkness~

5:52 PM

                       Sword_called_Darkness said...

A little update, on their forums, they've deleted just about all
descenting commentary about the con. Looks like they're doing the same
thing on the ACEN forum, too. I guess it was inevitable, since alot of
the same staff works both cons. As you can see, I don't censor,
otherwise Kurt's posting would be gone. And BTW, I like animation.... I
obsess about football....
~Darkness~

6:56 PM

                       Sword_called_Darkness said...
I agree with TFC, but rather then criticize, maybe he
should think of some ideas to make the cons better. I found out that
the same people who do reactor are the same ones who do acen. I sure
hope acen is better than reactor was. I want to help you guys as much
as possible to make future cons good for EVERYONE, not just the
"insiders" as TFC called them.
I always have ideas. The
problem is that most of them involve changes that no one wants.... like
self dicipline and professionalism

The first way to address a problem is to first identify it. Criticism is a good way to do that.

Although
it's been said that management is willing to hear about problems and
possible solutions, they really don't. Otherwise there would be no
censorship here.

Some solutions are cheap, and relatively painless, but no one will implement them:

1.
If you're wandering around a "family friendly" con drunk, your badge is
taken and you are escorted from the premesis.... peroid. No matter who
you are. Management/leaders set the example.... (I'll leave it up to
you if you set a good one.)

2. As a con volunteer, you can have
fun.... but even volunteer work is still work.... if you have a problem
interacting with people, you are rude, you want to be in somebodys
face, then go home. People like that aren't going to help solve
problems.... they'll just create new ones. If you want to be a bully or
a thug, go back to the schoolyard and steal lunch money.

3. If
you want to drink.... then drink.... but after the last forum is closed
and the youngsters are assumed to be gone.... Basically, after 10pm
party until your ears bleed.... the rest of the time.... leave it alone.

If this is going to to be adults only, then be adults only...
If it's going to be family friendly then be family friendly....
If you send mixed messages then nobody is going to be happy.

If
Purple is a must, then move the con back to July or August, and take
advantage of the outdoors..... make it a real end of summer party.
This addresses several issues about noise, smoking and overcrowding.

TFC

8:07 PM

                       Boring Dude said...

Why not acknowledge some of the genuine problems that the
administration of Reactor had to face, and how these could have been
factors in the many issues con-goers had to face? That would be far
more credible than spouting off a one-sided anecdote, supporting a conspiracy theory about a convention YOU DIDN'T EVEN ATTEND, without backing it up with proof and omitting a vital part of the story.

As
for the forum, they've still allowed for people to complain through
different avenues. It's their forum, their site, their con, so they can
do that if they want. Those who can rationalize just let it go, and do
their best to try and help Reactor to the best of their capacity. Those
with some kind of agenda seem to keep slinging mud.

Maybe you’re
part of Berry’s ego-fueled army to steamroll and destroy all Chicago
conventions, because they refuse to change their names to Berry-con?
Hey, do they teach superficial whining in the Corps?

Ooh, yeah,
forget what I said before... I think I finally understand! This
anecdotal mudslinging, without actually contributing anything, IS FUN! Whine on!

4:16 PM

                       Sword_called_Darkness said...

While licking the inside of his toilet bowl clean, Boring Dude said:
[i]Why
problems... that's a given... but it's alot easier to keep things on
track when you're sober. The coordinators claimed to be expierenced at
doing these sort of things.... apparently they failed to prove that.
I
trust my sources and I trust their judgements.. all expierenced
con-goers and I'd never admit it to them, they're smart people. If it's
such a great con and you truly enjoyed it, then you should be able to
prove it, too.

Also, you might want to keep in mind that this is
a commentary on actual events.... by definition, it's one sided... as
is yours.

While licking his toilet bowl clean, Boring Dude said:

[i]As
They can treat the posts on their boards any way that they wish... and as we both well know, they do...
constructive criticism or mudslinging.... depends on who says it and why.
If it's what they want to hear, it's constructive.... if it's not, then it's mudslinging.

As to my agenda, it's sinister and evil.... it's this.
I want people to:
1. Have fun
2. Get their money's worth
3. Know up-front, what they're getting before they pay their hard earned to get in.
4.
Know that any grievences will be addressed and resolved to both parties
satisfacion. Not to have those with grievences mocked and publiclly
humiliated.
Most of us can go to see drunks wander around and not pay a dime to do it.

After eating lunch from a Port-a-potty, Boring Dude said:
Maybe
you won't have to rely on second hand information. If I'm as much a
I'll even come to your funeral.

And who is Berry?
~Darkness

2:23 AM
